Bad Habits that Increase Calorie Intake
Many people who unsuccessfully tried to lose weight have some of these habits that are a reason for their failures. It is understandable that being overweight is a very hard time for a person’s life because it creates unnecessary stress and emotional problems enough to cause wrong choices in life.
These habits are often acquired through wrong knowledge passed from peers or through poor understanding of the body’s physiology. These habits can either unknowingly increase calorie intake or slow down metabolism which can hinder efforts for weight loss.
Eating too fast is easily noticed among many people that can cause increased calorie intake. When a person finishes her plate too quickly, she will opt to add more food. To correct this, make it a point to chew your food thoroughly and enjoy its taste. Make the food on your plate last up to at least ten minutes or until the meal is over. Dining is not a race on which the first finisher wins.
Eating out whenever with friends is another trend that puts your weight loss at risk. Many working individuals enjoy eating out with friends, although I do not discourage this practice but it must not be done too often if you are on a diet. Instead, have other enjoyable activities like playing games, or watching a movie. Or if you plan to eat out, make it a point to eat only light snacks when you are all hungry. If you meet your friends often, engage in ball games, playing cards and other things. Your friends will understand that you’re on a weight-loss diet, and if they are weight-conscious as well you can help each other lose weight.
Many people eat a lot when their pretty stressed. Many people turn to their own individual comfort food when barraged with worries and this can raise your calorie intake too badly. Unfortunately, a lot of these comfort foods include calorie-dense desserts like chocolate, ice cream, cakes and pizza. These foods activate the pleasure centers of the brain and causing some sort of addiction. To prevent this from happening, find ways to reduce stress and do other things that can ‘make you happy’ like a movie, a stroll or buying something nice (not food) for yourself.
Asking mates daily about your physique can sometimes make weight loss regimen counterproductive. Constantly asking your mates for six days a week about your body such as ‘Am I getting thin?’ or ‘Do I get fat?’ is not good because you will surely get a non-sense answer. Your mates see you every day of the week that even if you lose two pounds of fat per day you or they will not ever notice. To have an honest answer, ask other you do not see often.
Some individuals try to lose weight by greatly reducing food on certain meals (like coffee only for breakfast and having carrot sticks for lunch) then binge on whole fried poultry on dinner. This starve-then-binge cycle does not give any benefits at all and the binge can add to your weight. During meal skimping, starvation soon ensues prompting the body to respond by slowing down metabolism and prevents the use of fat tissues.
